What is blow molding?
In blow molding process, granular plastic raw materials are heated and melted at high temperature in a screw extruder. The hollow tube called the parison is extruded from the die head and placed in the cavity of the blow mold.
After closing the mold, the compressed air is injected into the mold immediately, so that the plastic parison is inflated and stick to the inner wall of the mold. Once the plastic cools and solidifies, the mold is opened, and the finished product is ejected.
What is rotational molding?
Rotational molding machines typically consist of a large oven or heating chamber, a mold, and a rotating mechanism.
In roto molding process, the oven is used to heat the mold, which is typically made of metal, to a specific temperature. The mold is then filled with a polymer powder. It is then slowly rotated (usually around two perpendicular axes). The heat causes the polymer powder to melt and coat the inside of the mold, forming the desired shape. The mold is then cooled, and take out the molded product.
Blow molding and rotational molding are two different processes used for manufacturing plastic products, but the advantages of blow molding are obvious.
